Welcome to the Historic Iris Preservation Society (HIPS)

Come with us down the garden path to explore the charm and delight of heirloom irises. Here you will find many resources and much information about historic irises. The Historic Iris Preservation Society is a group of folks from around the world who love and enjoy old irises and are striving to preserve them. We urge anyone interested in historic irises to consider a membership.

“The Society was created to help preserve our iris heritage by locating at risk irises and bringing them together with irisarians who want to grow and perpetuate them. Of equal importance is the establishment of an extensive collection of reference material relating to early iris history. HIPS is the common thread that binds together irisarians everywhere.”

The Historic Iris Preservation Society (HIPS) was founded in 1988, and is proud to be a section of The American Iris Society
