TB 38″ M

From Cooley’s Gardens catalog for 1951: “A very large ruffled wide petaled flamingo-pink self with deep orange beard. It is a medium to light tone of pink . . . not pale but having plenty of color, a lighter shade than Cherie. Petals are thick and lustrous, the form ideal. Husky stems 3′ tall, with excellent branching. Hit Parade is one parent, Cherie a grand parent.”

(Cherie X Fantasy sdlg.), HM 1951, AM 1953.

Notes: “The Cooley catalog parentage is for the seedling originally named Ballerina; the name was later switched to the Cherie X Fantasy seedling which is what was introduced.” – Phil Edinger, CA

Imagine an entire troupe of pink ballerinas dancing in the wind in your seedling bed! Chances are your first choice, would not be your last. The one of the Cooley catalog parentage “Hit Parade is one parent, Cherie a grand parent’ apparently was an option for introduction at some point. Ultimately in 1951, the 1947 registrant #46-14 of ‘Cheri X Floridora’ was superceded and replaced (S&R) by #47-19 of ‘Cherie X Fantasy seedling’ and introduced as the lead Ballerina, receiving all the accolades! sdt
