From Lloyd Austin’s catalog for 1964: “While this iris is not a perfect Iris, nor is it perfectly black, it is by far the blackest horned Iris in existence today. Has lots of pollen and may soon be parent of a super black with horns, spoons or flounces. Standards deep mulberry, falls velvety mulberry black, with horns or spoons about 1½” long.”
