From Wallace’s catalog for 1922: “A free flowering self colored true Aphylla, notable for its blue beard; the standards are violet and the falls velvety purple violet, a larger and better flower than MARS.”

From The Longfield Iris Farm 1925: “An early flowering semi dwarf derived from the species aphylla. The flowers are self colored a peculiar shade of deep lavender blue and have blue beards in place of th eusual orange or yellow ones. 15″ Distinct and good in its season.”

From Nicholls’ Irises catalog for 1928: “26 inches. Intermediate. Large deep violet blue, with violet beard. Very early, and has better texture than is usual with the Intermediates. Vigorous and free blooming.”
