From Rainbow Gardens catalog for 1925: “Cyanea, Pumila – S. rich bright blue; F. dark satiny blue, large, handsome, good grower.”
From Cornell Extension Bulletin 112: “Color effect a dark violet self. S. haematoxylin violet. F. dark anthracene violet veined on light outer haft. The dense beard is bluish, and orange tipped at the base. The individual flowers are rather large for so dwarf a plant and are freely produced, giving a dense mass. For a pumila hybrid, this sort holds its color effect longer than usual.”
From Mitchell’sBulbs, 1922; “Rich royal purple with blackish shadings”.
