From Quality Gardens catalog for 1936: “Deseret was beautiful and interesting in bud and its full blown flowers caused many arguments. The variegata lovers (in which class we belong) were thrilled by it. The bloom stalk is the tallest we have grown in the variegata section. The blossom is long and symmetrical, S. a clear rich yellow, well arched and firm. F. a similar yellow, with a clear velvety red brushed evenly and heavily on all but the edges of the petals. Most unusual and a picture with the bronze backed Hemerocallis.”
