From Melrose Gardens catalog for 1967: “Provocatively posed for our inspection are these large clean white flowers, distinctly etched with widely spaced deep rose purple penciling, which coalesces into a narrow margin of all the same color around the bright yellow signal. All six broad and fluted petals are edged in silver. Style arms and petaloid stamens are bright purple; style crest picoteed white.”
