From Rene Cayeux’s catalog for 1939: “S. a blending of very soft tawny yellow. F. soft clear lilac blended light flax blue edged sulfur yellow, wide ochre throat. Strong well branched stems 3½ ft. A medley in soft tones of great charm.”

From Robert Wayman’s catalog for 1940: “Early. Given a special award by the National Horticultural Society of France for the best new Irises of the year. A glorious new Iris of French origin in an exquisite blending of soft pastel shades. A flower that is impossible to describe or illustrate, but the following inadequate attempt at description may give some slight idea of its great beauty. The perfectly domed and beautifully frilled standards are mainly clear, soft olive buff. The falls are soft lilac, blended with flax-blue, bordered the color of standards. The flowers are of huge size and perfect form. A five star variety now offered for the first time at a modest price.”
