From Schreiner’s Iris Lover’s catalog for 1965: “The search for a fine brown iris has been unending. Gingersnap represents one of the finest seedlings we have raised in the spicy ginger-brown shade. The flower is remarkably broad and massive in all its parts with exceptional branching and many buds. A very novel iris needed to complete the color spectrum in virtually every iris collection. Seen in daylight Gingersnap has a richness and sheen that greatly enhances its beauty. We are proud to present such a meritorious brown – a most popular color. The color picture has captured the beauty of this fine iris remarkably well.”
