From Stevens Bros. catalog for 1952-53: “Colour, vivid, vibrant and entirely satisfying, glows in this flower of exotic beauty. The standards are rosy, wine-flushed bronze while the broad flared falls are a brilliant fuchsia, flushed at the hafts and round the margins with bronzy wine. A large flower with heavy substance befitting such a rich and vivid colour.”

From Schreiner’s Iris Lover’s catalog for 1952: “Certain Iris are superior to others for garden effect due to their fine color carrying qualities. Such an Iris is Italian Joy with its rich color and pert air. The color is a glowing rosy wine flushed bronze with the falls a deeper shade of brilliant fuchsia, glowing and vivid.”
