From Schreiner’s Iris Lover’s catalog for 1963: “This is the bluest of the blue plicatas – an iris whose snowy ground is edged a delightful cerulean blue. Not as fancy an iris as Rococo but bluer. Newport won its spurs the year after the American Iris Society met in Oregon (1960), having been given a Highly Commended award by the AIS judges.”
From Cooley’s Gardens catalog for 1965: “The bluest of blue plicatas, the snowy ground edged a delightful cerulean blue. It is brighter than Rococo and the colors are in sharper contrast. Tall, large, and well braced.”
