From Quality Gardens catalog for 1930: “This is an intensely red iris, a deep rich red, a perfect self color, with the standards and falls equally red. It has a stout and well branched form. Both the standards and the falls are intensely frilled. The flowers are not as large as Dauntless, but it is a more uniform, intensely red color. We cannot recommend this iris too highly to our customers. It will create a sensation when it is better known.”
From Linwood Iris Gardens 1936 “A gorgeous dark red self of intense coloring. Heavily suffused bronze and illuminated by a bright orange beard. Tall, LATE and FRAGRANT . Each .25”.
From Rene Cayeux’s catalog for 1939: “S. light vinous red. F. amaranth-red shot garnet, beard orange. Strong erect growing plant with flowers of great substance. Late flowering. Height 3 ft.”
