TB EM R4L
From Cooley’s Gardens catalog for 1943: “A seedling of Daybreak and another truly beautiful and almost peach-pink iris. While the individual flowers are large and perfectly proportioned, it is as a garden clump that this lovely creation is startlingly effective. The tall wiry stems bear a great number of flowers which last from early mid-season to late. As colorful and luscious as a bowl of Georgia peaches.”
(Idanha X sister sdlg #201).
Notes: The name was erroneously released to Bennett Jones who introduced his TB Peach Glow in 1969.
The 1943 Cooley’s catalog, which intro’d Peach Glow, was printed in black and white due to reduced staff and the priority of jobs for the war effort at the engravers. Seems the color proofs were so unsatisfactory they chose to forego them for the year. A letter of explanation was included with the catalog that year. An interesting intersection of irises with the larger world during an important historic period.
