Variegata with bright yellow standards over falls washed mahogany red. Distinguished from Honorabile by the color not being solid on the falls. Intensity of color varies year to year seemingly dependent on weather.

Honorabile’s family of Named sports include: Brown’s Mutant, Joseph’s Coat Katkamier, Kaleidoscope, Sans Souci and Sherwin-Wright.

Notes: *Class is MTB by current standards.

For information on this family of sports and other Historic irises with erratic descendants, please refer to Jean Witt’s article Notes on Honorabile in our Library under Irises of Note with an attached note by Clarance Mahan. Also check out the article titled ‘The Iris that Lost Its Name‘ by Mahan for his comments on the ongoing Honorabile/Sans Souci confusion.
