From New York Botanical Garden catalog for 1929: “This is the most gloriously rich true blue self I have yet seen. The whole flower, standards and falls, may be compared for color to that of the standards of that wonderful Iris ‘Souv. de Mme. Gaudichau’. The flowers are large with a prominent pure white beard, very freely produced on strong branching stems, 3 1/2 ft. high. Late flowering and a good grower. This is hard to beat as a variety for color effect in the garden.”
From Robert Wayman’s catalog for 1932: “The richest Wedgwood-China blue of uniform color throughout with a striking white beard. Large flower.”
