From Eden Road Iris garden catalog for 1980: “Mahogany brown self that has heavy substance and is colorfast. Beard is burnt tangerine. Well branched and vigorous. Could be useful in breeding that red bearded brown.”
From Schreiner’s Iris Lover’s catalog for 1984: “The color and down to earth hee-haw of a wild west rodeo. This handsome, very smooth medium dark mahogany which has burnished gold beards is rapidly attracting attention as one of the most popular new browns. Derived from the fortunate cross of Malaysia X Coffee House this russet self is not too large or floppy in form as are some of its predecessors. Blooms are full petaled, lightly waved and colorfast with good substance. Upright stem with three branches and spur, nine buds. A ‘must have’ in the search for unique coloring.”
From Cooley’s Gardens catalog for 1986: “Tops in its color class, this brown self sports a rich mahogany finish. Beards are a golden brown, amber at the tips.”
